On 23rd March 2008, the national day of Pakistan the Governor of Punjab presented the national award of Tamgha-e-Imtiaz to Mr. Saeed Awan, Director Centre for the Improvement of Working Conditions and Environment (CIWCE). Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, is one of the highest civil awards in Pakistan and was given to Mr. Awan for his services for promoting the welfare of marginalised and vulnerable workers.The improved loom for carpet weavers was cited as best example of the contribution Mr. Awan has made to promote the healtth and productivity of carpet wevers and combat hzardous child labour from this sector.
