This project provides financial assistance to single mothers of children on the Autism Spectrum. This mothers cannot afford to raise a special needs child and because of their unique case of being single parents, sometimes cannot get full time jobs. We not only assist their extra financial needs but organize support groups and special trainings to help them coup with the difficulties of raising special needs children in a country like Ethiopia.
Due to the backward thinking of the Ethiopian community, most people consider Autism to be a curse. And so most husbands don't stay with their wives once they learn of their children's conditions. Therefore these mothers are faced with the challenge of raising money for their family despite having been financially dependent on their husbands and are thus starting from scratch. They also can't get full time jobs as they have to take care of their special needs children.
This project gives financial assistance to these single moms, so they can provide for their special needs children. It also organizes support groups where by these parents can rely on each other and even forms friendships. In addition we ensure that they get part time jobs to support them selves. This project attempts to share the burden these mothers feel so that they know they are not alone and they keep moving forward and focus on supporting their children improve.
This project is helping mothers help themselves and their special needs children. If these mothers have support, they will ensure that they support their children and so giving them a bright future. In the long term we are not just helping mothers but ensuring a bright future for their children as well.
