Health-Point Foundation helps Alleviate Pain for thousands of Refugees in Camps in Thessaloniki Greece. As a volunteer-led, grassroots, non-profit organisation we rely heavily on kind donations to keep our project running. Funds go towards purchasing essential dental equipment to carry out the dental work, medication and supporting long-term ground coordinators.
The world is watching a quick climb in the number of people forced to flee from wars, conflict and oppression. EU has closed the borders from Greece into the rest of Europe in hopes of better managing the crisis The conflicts in Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq has created one of the largest refugee crises the world has seen since WWII. With the new EU agreement in place, 60,000+ refugees are being housed in small camps and apartments.
Since December 2015,Health-Point Foundation has been fulfilling an unmet need by providing free dental care to these individuals. As the only dentists on ground with a continuous presence, we are receiving a great number of requests to visit new camps where the need for a dental service is high. Operating on a 6 day a week basis, we see around 1000 patients a month treating infections, performing extractions and delivering oral hygiene education sessions
Through donations to this project, we will extend our efforts to relieve pain. Support will remain active through our volunteers and partners in assisting refugees living in the camps. We will continue to assess the situation as it develops and adapt our response as the situation changes.
