RefugeeOne Kicks Off Its 30th Anniversary

Morikeba Kouyate
Morikeba Kouyate

Hello, and Happy Summer!

With your support, RefugeeOne was able to continue to support refugees in the Chicagoland area.   We resettled many refugees, mainly from Burma, Bhutan and Iraq.

In June RefugeeOne kicked off its 30th anniversary with two events held at donor’s homes.  The events were highlighted by the musical entertainment of Morikeba Kouyate, a Griot from Senegal.

Throughout the year, we will reflect on our rich history of welcoming tens-of-thousands of refugees to the United States--from the Boat People of Vietnam in the early 80s to the Balkans and Eastern Europeans in the 90s to refugees from various African countries around the millennium to refugees from Burma, Bhutan and Iraq we are now helping to resettle.

The anniversary will culminate with our Many Voices, One Vision event on Friday, April 27, 2012 at the Chicago Cultural Center.

Your support helps us to continue creating opportunities for refugees fleeing war, terror, and persecution to build new lives of safety, dignity and self reliance.

To find out more about our anniversary events, visit our web site.

You can find more updates about our current projects, news stories featuring our refugee clients, and other information on our Facebook page.

Thank you so much for your incredible support and for investing in our programs! Your contributions truly make all the difference in the world.
