This project aims to provide scholarships to 10 poor and orphan students of governmental public school of Chitwan district of Nepal by establishing a fixed deposit endowment fund of 5,000 USD in the bank and using the 10.5% annual interest money for school bags, shoes, uniforms, stationaries and shocks. The scholarships will be recurrently provided for the students from grade 1 to 12. The scholarship recipients will be mobilized for other educational and extra-curricular activities.
There are more than 100 poor and orphan children in Madi valley, whose families are either affected by natural disasters like floods, earthquake and bushfires or by wild lives of Chitwan national park (Tiger, Elephant, Rhinos). These children are either working as child labors or studying in public schools with acute hardships. Annually, more than 100 families are displaced due to floods and wild animal vandalism. The local government supports on housing by relocating them but not in education.
This scholarship program will support in the first phase to 10 students by providing basic materials annually and also support their parents by providing skill-based trainings so that they can get higher daily wage rates. The 5,000 USD will be put in a fixed deposit endowment fund in the bank and the annual interest of 10.5% will be used to procure school shoes, bags, uniforms, shocks and stationaries for 10 students until they reach to grade 12.
Following will be the impacts: 1. Economic burden to buy basic education materials for parents will be reduced; 2. Students' education quality will be improved; 3. The income of the parents will be increased by receiving the skill based training and increasing their daily wage rates and 4. More than 10 students will be benefited with endowment fund.
