APAE DE SAO PAULO is a non-profit organization that has been working since 1961 to promote the diagnosis, prevention and inclusion of people with Intellectual Disability, producing and disseminating knowledge. It acts from birth to the aging process, providing the development of skills and potentialities that favor schooling and supported employment, as well as offering legal advice to families about the rights of people with Intellectual Disability.
In the city of Sao Paulo there are 127,549 people with Intellectual Disability, (according to 2010 census of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics). APAE DE SAO PAULO supported, in 2016, 16,625 people with Intellectual Disability to conquer their spaces in the world, developing them as individuals and as citizens. The challenge is to expand our activities, facilitating the access of a greater number of people to the activities of APAE DE SAO PAULO.
APAE DE SAO PAULO believes that people with Intellectual Disability can increase their potential when properly supported. Thus, it accompanies the whole process of evolution in each of these stages of life of the individual and provides the development of skills and potentialities that favor inclusion in society. We offer support through the services of stimulation, educational, social education, professional qualification and inclusion, support to aging and guarantee and defense Rights.
For a non-profit organization, each year represents a challenge. The year 2016 was one of the most difficult, marked by an unprecedented political and financial crisis in Brazil. Even so, we support 16,625 people with Intellectual Disability. To continue to do our work, we need the support of partners who believe the world can be more inclusive. Their contribution complements our services and gives us even more security to carry out and expand our work.
