Empower Future Initiative, in partnership with Coursera, is training 500 underserved Nigerian youths in digital and professional skills. We will provide weekly weekend data grants and monthly mentorship sessions to help them complete online courses and secure better livelihoods.
Millions of young Nigerians face unemployment and digital exclusion. While online platforms like Coursera offer world-class training, most underserved youths cannot afford internet access or mentorship support to complete these courses. As a result, their potential for personal and economic growth remains untapped.
Empower Future Initiative (EFI) has partnered with Coursera for Social Impact to offer 500 free online learning scholarships. Through this project, EFI will support our selected learners by providing them with 2GB of data every weekend for 12 months in the first & second cohorts and monthly mentorship sessions. This will help them access, learn, and complete professional certifications in high-demand fields like web development, data analytics, GenAI, digital marketing, and entrepreneurship.
This project will create a community of digitally skilled young Nigerians who are employable, self-reliant, and ready to mentor others. By bridging the digital divide, we'll enable learners from low-income backgrounds to build sustainable livelihoods and contribute to local economic growth. In the long term, EFI aims to scale this model to reach 5,000 learners annually.
