In April 2024 our HTC Southern California Medical Team will travel to Nepal again to bring the gift of healing. Our foot and ankle surgical team helps children inflicted by club foot be able to walk without pain. Last year, we screened 102 patients, operated on 21, and donate a much-needed portable X-ray to the hospital. This year, we hope to assess 100 patients, perform 55 surgical procedures on 20 patients, and provide specialized medical equipment to the hospital. Changing lives forever!
More than 2/3 of all children born with clubfoot deformity live in circumstances where they do not have access to specialized medical care. In Nepal, 782 children are born every year with clubfoot deformity. These deformities are painful and drastically limit the child's mobility and independence. In April 2024, a team of HTC Volunteers will provide critical foot and ankle surgery in Nepal. Imagine the joy as these children begin to walk on their own two feet for the very first time!
HTC medical volunteers provide all their own expenses, take time off from work, leave their families, raise funds, and secure donated equipment and medical supplies to travel around the world to help heal children. Why? Because helping even one child matters. The ability to work alongside the doctors in Nepal and train them on new techniques to correct clubfoot at birth and provide surgery for up to 20 children each year matters. The joy in the eyes of the parents and the child - Priceless!
The goal of our Southern California HTC Medical Team led by Dr. Ali Khosroabadi is to provide needy children with foot & ankle surgery, post op support, and a set of crutches. Thanks to our partnership with the Nepal Orthopedic Hospital (NOH) and training in "Ponseti" method we can now help correct clubfoot at birth.
