Migrant children in Thailand face many barriers to education. One of these barriers that the children are facing right now is no transport to their classes. This is due to the high cost of transportation for parents and guardians. It might seem to be a small issue, however one that seriously affects their access to education. We need your help to fund a safe and free transport service for these children to get to school. Without such support, they will miss out on their education.
Getting access to education for migrants in Thailand is no easy feat. Migrant children face many barriers to accessing education, one of the most prominent one now is the lack of affordable transportation to classes. There are classes available for migrant children to join in areas such as Mae Sot, Ranong and Chumphon in Thailand. However, attending these classes is difficult for children as they do not have a way to get to classes.
This project will support the transport fees of getting migrant children to their classes at Migrant Learning Centres in three main areas of Thailand; Mae Sot, Ranong and Thailand. The funds will ensure that the learning centres are able to provide safe and free travel for students to get to their classes. This will place burden off of parents who as migrants work under hard conditions for little salary.
Through providing transport funding for migrant children to get to school, children will be able to attend school and develop their knowledge and understanding of various subjects. This will impact their futures positively and their communities. Moreover, the safety of the children will improve, as they are not left home alone while their parents are working and they do not have to go to work with their parents.
