Last quarter we told you about the 65 children that were helped. Well, we have done it again. This period thanks to your continued support and generous donations, Take Heart Association Project (THAP) has helped 83 young patients to receive procedures to correct various heart ailments that promise longer life and brighter futures. We are thankful that 29 youth ages 3 to 18 years, received diagnostic tests and pre-op care and 54 other children and families received medication, accommodation, and support for healthier lives through our Family Support Centre services in Kenya.

These successes provide encouragement for THAP and CAC to carry on this important work and mission. Thank you.

A total of sixty-five (65) young lives were impacted in various ways this quarter. Nine (9) youth ages 2 to 18 years, received diagnostic tests and pre-op care in Kenya and were accompanied by THAP personnel during their travel to receive corrective heart surgeries at Apollo Children’s Hospital in Chennai India. Surgeons at Apollo Hospital were able to perform complicated procedures to restore healthy hearts to these patients so they could have positive prognoses for a better life. These patients are back in Kenya and doing very well.

Fifty-six (56) other children and families received critical services and support for healthier lives during the quarter which included Echograms 5; Medicine 25; Review 12; and Accommodation at THAP Family Support Center 14.

THAP and CAC embrace these ongoing successes to press forward in our quest to help other children and families in Kenya that need corrective heart surgeries. We appreciate the gifts and support of partners and donors which help us accomplish THAP’s mission. Thank you.

This period was filled with joy and miracles especially for two Kenyan families. It began with a need to provide urgent heart surgeries for two young children. Patient Wadi prognosis was unnerving at 20/80 percent chance of survival. Patient Hera case was complicated. These young patients started their journey to Chennai India in late December heading to Apollo Children’s Hospital where a team of surgeons were awaiting their arrival. While on the way, and during a stopover in Dubai, patient Hera had an unexpected emergency. As fate works, the airport authority and Dubai government ensured that patient Hera and her mother received all necessary care and support at no cost to them. They made it to India and patient Hera had successful heart surgery. Patient Wadi also received a blessing in that specialist surgeons were able to perform the much needed complicated surgery and the young patient is well on her way to making a full recovery.

Five more children received heart surgeries at Tenwek Hospital, Kenya in February by a visiting team of doctors from the United States of America. The joys of success of these surgeries could not be contained as families expressed their happiness to the surgeons, hospital personnel and THAP administration for their kind assistance. All patients are doing exceedingly well.

THAP also helped fifty (50) other children and families receive critical services and support during the quarter as shown below:

  • Echograms –4
  • Medicine –7
  • Catherization -1
  • Other Tests –1
  • Evaluation - 2
  • Review – 14
  • X-Ray - 1
  • Accommodation at THAP Family Support Center – 20
  • Travel Aide - 1

CAC and THAP are encouraged by the progress being made and continue to forge ahead with increased services for children and families in Kenya. Partnerships and support from benefactors which play a crucial role in this endeavor are constantly being strengthened. Your care and funds mean the world to our work without which we cannot function. Thank you for your love and continued gifts that help change lives of deserving children and families.

This quarter was bustling with evaluations, tests, and post-surgery checkups. We were also busy getting ready to guide three patients to India for surgeries. Patients Dan, Dav and Mo received corrective surgeries at the Fortis Malar Hospital in Chennai India during August and September. All three patients have returned to Kenya and are making remarkable recovery at home.

Fifty-four (54) other children and families got much needed help during this quarter as shown below:
Echograms –10, Medicine –19, ECG -1, Other Tests –2, CAT –1, Review –1,
Accommodation at THAP Family Support Center –8, Travel Aide -2

CAC and THAP graciously marched forward with the task of providing much needed services to children and families in Kenya. Partnerships and support from benefactors are pertinent to growth in our organizations so we endeavor to institute these bonds daily. We thank all supporters for your continued gifts to this cause which impacts the lives of deserving children and families. We are currently prepping two more patients for travel to India for surgeries.

I am very happy, believe me!

The months of April to June were busy for Take Heart Association Project (THAP) and brought about happy hearts for three surgical patients and the many families helped during this period. Patients Abe and May accompanied by family members traveled from Kenya to Fortis Malar Hospital in Chennai India in late April and patient Jundo visited in June for corrective heart surgeries. All three surgical procedures were successful and these patients are back in Kenya and continuing the recovery process. THAP is currently finalizing arrangements for three more patients to visit India to receive corrective surgeries in the coming months.

Sixty-one other children and families were assisted by THAP during April to June as follows:

Echograms –4, Review – 14, ECG -2, X-Ray – 1, Medicine – 22, Other Tests -2,

Accommodation at THAP Family Support Center – 16

CAC and THAP offer sincere thanks for your continued patronage in helping us change the lives of many deserving children and families. We cannot do this great work without your continued support.
