The Keep a Girl in School teaches life-saving sex education to vulnerable girls, and provides support for teenage girls who have become pregnant or mothers as a result of sex abuse/rape. We provide counselling/rehabilitation to help these girls rebuild confidence, support them with quality healthcare to ensure a safe delivery where necessary, and give them scholarships to return to school or learn a trade/skill so they don't end up in the streets.
in Nigeria, many teenage girls drop out of school each year due to pregnancies often as a result of rape or sex abuse. Pregnancy often means the end of education for these girls who then take to the streets to find ways to survive or worst still forced to marry their abuser or rapist in order to survive. This then creates a circle of vulnerability, more abuse & poverty for generations. Girls also face big risks of sex abuse & contracting STIs without proper sex education, which is often lacking.
At the prevention & first level, we provide free life-saving sex education to teenagers in Nigeria, helping countless girls avert unwanted pregnancies and HIV/ STIs. At the second level we provide counselling & quality health care for raped girls & pregnant teenagers and give scholarships to re instate them back to school or train them in an economic skill so they can keep living a pain-free life.
This project educates, empowers and supports girls who are vulnerable, have been sexually abused, and/or dropped out of school due to pregnancy so they can become educated/skilled women in the near future. By this we break the chain of dependency, continued abuse and poverty that often plague victims of sex abuse. Also an educated/skilled woman is more likely to educate & provide for her child. We want to give back to these young girls the future that wicked men have tried to destroy.
