Getting Back to Schools

With the new curricula on board,”Skillz Mabeste” targeting the primary age group 9-14 years and “Skillz Mtaani” targeting the secondary age group 15-22 years,VAP started the Skillz Kenya program on a goal getting mission currently zeroing in 5 primary schools and 3 secondary schools. With each program tailor made and gelling well with the targeted age groups, both participants feel more comfortable in participating in various program activities and crucial discussion topics that create a fun and open environment of sharing: feelings, beliefs and ideas about HIV/AIDS that lead them into gaining necessary skills for hiv prevention and healthy lifestyles. Equipped with both program information, Skillz coaches feel more comfortable, focused and concentrated with the various topics, their key messages as well as the targeted program participants.

New Kids On The Block!

Fresh from Skillz Kenya program (as graduates), fresh from high schools and fresh from the Training of coaches courses, a new breed of 16 Skillz coaches are now giving back to the community centres and schools what they received from VAP.The inclusion of these passionate, young and energetic crop has stirred up VAP’s programs and have joined various development committees that were set-up within VAP.
