The project will help feed & retain in school over 200 children currently at the Patmos school. It will also sustain the programs to enable self sustainability of the Patmos school's feeding program. Mathare is one of the sprawling slums in Kenya, second largest after Kibera. Providing food in school (school feeding program) will attract the many children out in the streets & dump sites to school to secure a better future & reduce cases of crime, child prostitution, radicalization & others
Children out in the streets dumping sites instead of being in school. Abject poverty has pushed children to look for food in the dumpsites, beg or steal from residents. This has increased child dropouts from school. Patmos school whose foundation was from a church feeding program has grown because of this, but is now overstretched due to limited resources. Their hope is in schooling. If the problem is not solved, crime, despondency, among other societal vices will spell doom to our community
This project will retain the children who are already in school & attract more others who are loitering in the streets & ransacking sacks in the dumpsites. This will ensure morally upright children/future and a safe haven for this will reduce crime such as theft, robbery, prostitution, pick pocketing among other social crimes. Children will be safe from all other challenges for school will provide all they need for their future. Hope will be for sleeping only.
Children will grow well equipped/skilled to join the community in development & will give back to the community. They will work hard to earn a living other than engaging in crime. There will be reduced crime rates, increased responsible individuals, reduced street children and all other forms of crime. Children will grow into responsible adults & not abandon their children or families. They will work to help those in dire need in the community.
