A lot has happened at our Schools for Justice in India, Nepal and Brazil these past few months. The good news just keeps on coming, and the ripple waves of change are starting to make their presence known.
30 paralegals started and completed their theory and commenced their practical placements – like internships – to apply their learnings in real life. It can be challenging in Nepal to file a police report as a woman, so to have another woman with a similar background and understanding taking your report can make a huge difference to survivors in terms of access to justice. These brave paralegals help provide safe and easy access to justice to all survivors.
We are proud to announce that the School for Justice Brazil is now open for business! The staff – including teachers, a psychologist, social worker, program coordinator, social educator and legal assistant- is excited and ready to start the school year. The year will start with 12 young girls, all amazing and brave survivors. We wish them all the best for the year ahead!
School for Justice students in India have been busy taking exams, attending counseling sessions and attending legal awareness trainings created specifically for a local context, such as the Dowry Death act. Students also conducted legal right education awareness sessions about human trafficking at a shelter home in Mumbai, to help other minor and vulnerable girls protect themselves against traffickers.
