Kandal Community Centre (KCC) situated 60km from Phnom Penh; deep in the countryside is where our project located and operated since early 2017.This project benefits about 400 underprivileged children through: 1). Having daily English learning, sports, the arts, basic health & hygiene to them. 2). Providing students with school supplies, used clothes etc. 3). providing nearly 100 families with essential housing supplies and food. Through education, the cycle of poverty will diminished.
Approximately 30% of Cambodian population lives below the poverty line. It is a country that is just recovering from a violent civil war at the end of the 90s. It is noticed that high disparity between rich and poor. This poverty affects most poor children's lives as the result they do not even meet their basic rights, yet they live malnutrition and marginal life conditions. Poor children can access to education, particularly English, which is essential for their future career.
Therefore, we work to contribute to disadvantaged children's education, specifically, English classes which are very important for their future career to break the cycle of poverty. Besides we provide basic training/program related to health and hygiene, de-worming, sport and arts to promote their whole being development. We also provide nutrition through healthy snacks and porridge for hope program to benefit their health.
The project aims that at least 200 of these community children will have a bright future as we equip them and train them to be future leaders. They will grow to more responsible adults and get away from the poor living condition as equip with knowledge of understanding care with high virtue.
