Mama Africa Helps Kids like Sanyu Achora Have a Better Tomorrow
Do you remember making forts in your Family living room out of a blanket when you were a kid? An explorer..Who doesn’t recall the carefree joy of believing that you could do or be anything at all?
For many children in Uganda, whole families live and come from very Poor straggling Back grounds -- an existence so terrible that some children bravely leave them in search of a better life. What they find is the street -- a hard reality where thieves, drug addicts, and prostitutes are their mentors.
Mama Africa International Organization addresses these challenges and offers, Orphaned, Vulnerable, street children, sexually abused girls the chance to dream of a life where not only basic needs are met - but all things are possible. Thanks to the generosity of people like you, we have successes to share. But there is much more work to be done and we need your help.
Let me tell you about Sanyu. We first met Sanyu on the streets of one of the slums were we Operate and I grew up from. We spent a year seeking her out, talking, praying, building a relationship and finally became friends Knowing her details and Back ground of her Deceased Father who died due to HIV/Aids and her Mother who turned to Be a Drunkard after realizing she is Positive and can’t take care of her children. Sanyu ‘s Uncle could not take Sanyu to School for 2 years and he had financially Failed so he tried to give Mama Africa a try as Sanyu had turned to be a rough child in the Slum community ; leave the streets behind. She eventually did. Her stay in the transitional house was typical. She ran away many times -- she swore, fight, lied, and manipulated -- skills that served her well on the Slum streets at a very low age. She couldn’t imagine a life where she didn’t need to do those things.
But Mama Africa never gave up on her. We sought Sanyu every time she ran; talked to her through every struggle; forgave and allowed her the space to try again. Even her time in school, Sanyu struggled to figure out what comes next. Mama Africa helped her find something that lit her fire; she is doing better in school. She is enjoying it, excelling, and her art and craft Knowledge and the Talents to sing and Love other Children. But there was still something missing.
Sanyu mourned the loss of her family. So we helped her realize that dream too. Mama Africa sponsored visits and phone calls, and Peterson‘s family-support. Our efforts paid off! Sanyu reunited with her mother and brothers. She moved in, contributes emotionally to her household and she beamingly reports her happiness.
Mama Africa always believed in Sanyu and finally she did too.
This is an example of the unique care that Mama Africa provides. Our holistic approach provides a nurturing and spiritual home environment with an emphasis on developing critical self-help and life skills.
This is radical and life changing work. And work that depends on support from people likes you. Will you help Mama Africa’s children with a gift today?
Thank you in advance for your support. Your generosity will allow Straggling Vulnerable, Poor, Sexually abused & street children to break the cycle of cruelty and believe in a hopeful tomorrow. We pray that your journey of faith, forgiveness and reconciliation will be as rewarding as Sanyu’s.
