Network for Ecofarming in Africa (NECOFA) ensure that 330 Mukinyai School orphans in Molo attain quality education. The project pays for school fees and uniforms and supports foster families' farm projects to ensure nutritional security.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
HIV/AIDS prevalence is high in towns along the Trans-African highway, including Mukinyai in Molo. The prevalence has resulted in many orphaned children. To ensure that these children do not drop out of school, NECOFA will support the educational and nutritional needs of foster families to provide the children with the opportunity for sustainable livelihoods and contribution to community development.
How will this project solve this problem?
Support for kitchen gardens and small livestock enterprises for foster families willnot only provide food, but also opportunity for the orphans to gain hands-on experience in food production.
Potential Long Term Impact
The project will educate 330 orphans, empowering them with the potential to rise out of poverty and become positive forces in their communities.
