For over 6 years our mission has been to foster and improve the life of the children with cancer during their treatment through an interdisciplinary group formed by psychologists, educators, doctors, nurses and nutritionists looking forward to reduce the treatment abandonment rate.
On behalf of Andrea´s Foundation, we would like to thank all of you for your contribution to our project. With your help and the help of volunteers, every day we concentrate on giving our children a warm welcome and better well-being.
Because of your generous donations, we are getting closer to our goal. Looking forward to work with you again next year.

ANDREA´S CHILDREN HOME FOUNDATION
A HOME OF HOPE
UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI HEALTH STUDIES STUDENT ASSOCIATION – UMHSSA supports our foundation by exposing students to philanthropy and charity through different events. This year UMHSSA´s VP of Philanthropy is a close friend. Congratulations Andrea on your nomination.
Andrea Cordoba is a pre-med Junior from Sebring, FL. You may notice that our philanthropy and her name bare the same name and it is no coincidence.
Andrea shares this story: “my moms best friends daughter, Andrea Villanueva, was diagnosed with leukemia and passed away shortly before I was born. In order to honor her, my mom decided to name me after her. A few years later, her mom, Maria Clara, started Fundacion Andrea- a home for impoverished children with cancer in Barranquilla. It was my honor to be able to partner HSSA and this philanthropy that is so close to my heart, and I hope that we can really make a difference this year by raising money and awareness for this cause.”
Thanks to UMHSSA´s huge compromise and great work we keep moving toward our dream.
Two months ago, inspired by the children in our home, a group of 10 athletes, called ATLETAS CON CORAZON (ATHLETES WITH HEART) decided to dedicate their kilometers of training and competition to children who fight against cancer - to true #superheroes.
This is what they do.
ATLETAS CON CORAZON (ATHLETES WITH HEART) raises funds so that children who fight cancer and their families do not have to abandon their medical treatment due to lack of money. For the last two years, one of the athletes raised over 16,000 USD for the Andreas Children Home Foundation. Now there are more than 10 athletes supporting this campaign.
How they do it?
Through the campaign #AthletesConCorazon in social networks, the athletes motivate people, companies, teams, friends and athletes from around the world to make donations. These donations go to the Foundation.
How it began ...
Tony Varela, one of the athletes, launched this campaign to honor the life and battle of his younger brother, Alex, who died of cancer in September 2015 at age 27. Emily Clavel, cancer survivor and IRONMAN triathlete joined the idea to conform a team of athletes. The physical and mental effort involved in their preparation and competitions is nothing compared to what these children go through during their disease. They are a true inspiration!
Donations
Thanks to this initiative we keep moving toward our dream.

ANDREA´S CHILDREN HOME FOUNDATION
HAPPY 2018
We started 2018 with new families and volunteers. Donations for our house project keep adding up.
Last February 15th we celebrated International Childhood Cancer Day. We are grateful with all of those who kindly participated in our fundraising activity. Next Sunday March 4 we will have our 5th Childhood Cancer Free Walk. Every year we organize this activity to raise money for our monthly expenses. Join our Foundation and help us raise money to buy the house. We want to offer these kids and their companion a much bigger space and amenities in order for them to have a very welcoming stay while they receive treatment.
We are a foundation that offers housing, food and transportation for children with hemato-oncological diseases in Barranquilla, Colombia. With the help of volunteers, every day we concentrate on giving them a warm welcome and better well-being.
The Andrea´s Children Home Foundation fosters solidarity, compassion, empathy, humility, kindness, tolerance, respect and most of all, children`s wishes. Only with your help will we be able to successfully achieve this goal.
Our mission is to foster and improve the life of the children with cancer during their treatment through an interdisciplinary group formed by psychologists, educators, doctors, nurses and nutritionists looking forward to reduce the treatment abandonment rate.
Program Services
Nutrition is an important component of an inclusive cancer care program. Eating the right foods before, during, and after treatment can help our patients feel better, stay stronger and mantain or improve their quality of life. With this in mind, we are now working with a pediatric nutritionist on a nutritional counseling program were our patients and their companion receive guidance on what is the right food depending on their treatment. Along with this, we have cooking workshops twice a month were mothers learn food manipulation methods.
We close 2017 with 22 new families and new computers for our computer lab.
Housing Project: So far, we´ve received $6.702USD, still $16.000USD to go! Together let´s fulfill our dream on bying the house.
