Matthew 25: Ministries has been involved in disaster relief since 1997. Matthew 25 is responding to the devastating wildfires raging throughout California. Matthew 25 has shipped a semi of relief supplies to partners in California. The semi contained personal care kits, paper products, water, dust masks, tarps, baby items, laundry detergent pods and more. Matthew 25 will be sending additional shipments in the coming weeks, and will deploy our Disaster Response Team to help those affected.
The impact of the Camp, Hill, and Woolsey Fires is massive: more than 230,000 acres have burned, over 8,000 homes have been destroyed, an additional 70,000 homes are endangered, and at least 50 lives have been lost with hundreds still missing. The Camp Fire is now the most destructive and deadliest wildfire in California history. And the fires are still burning. "The Camp Fire has been devastating for so many," says Matthew 25 CEO Tim Mettey. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to all impacted."
Matthew 25 responds to disasters that are so catastrophic that coping with the aftermath is beyond the capabilities of the community or the surrounding areas. In these circumstances, access to life-saving and life-sustaining supplies is often limited, communication channels are interrupted and sanitary conditions deteriorate quickly. Matthew 25 provides critical first response necessities and long-term assistance to distribution partners in disaster areas to support relief and recovery efforts.
Matthew 25 is committed to providing aid to the disaster region for as long as we have the resources and a need exists that we can meet efficiently and effectively. Aid will continue to be in critical demand during recovery. Having access to basic necessities will enhance beneficiaries' quality of life and permit them to allocate their funds to rebuilding both their personal lives and their communities, enabling them to move forward with their long-term recovery.
