The main objective of this project is to empower 240 rural women of four village development committees of Dadeldhura district. These women have been selected as potential leaders and this project plans to enhance their leadership capacity through "leadership development program". Under this program, we propose to organize training on leadership development skills, civic education & good governance, gender equality & social inclusion, women's right and domestic violence against women.
The status of women in developing countries like Nepal is lower in all sectors. They are socially, economically, culturally and politically dominated and are excluded from the opportunities. The population of Nepal is dominated by women with 51.54% whereas 48.46% is male. Unfortunately such a high number of population are less represented in political domain despite the government allocating 33% seats for women in parliament and having the first ever female President and Chief Justice.
We believe in getting into root cause of the issue and address them with innovative programs; therefore, this project proposes to focus on 240 rural women from far-eastern region who have already been selected from our existing program and provide them with advance level empowerment and leadership training to enhance their capacity development. This project assists in transforming rural women from grass-root level into potential leaders who would make difference in their communities.
With your financial assistance and our determination & dedication, 240 rural women will be trained on leadership development program and enhance their capacity skills. They would be empowered to raise voice against domestic violence, gender equality, good governance etc. in their household and communities. In addition to this, we envision to have them filed for candidacy in upcoming local election and secure seats in decision making level in government institutions as a long-term impact.
