As we embark upon this season of Thanksgiving, I would like to take a moment to reflect on some of the key environmental successes of the past year – and your role in making them happen!
We celebrate the success of restoration efforts for the Oregon chub, the first fish ever removed from the endangered species list due to recovery rather than extinction. We celebrate Portland’s leadership in moving away from fossil fuels, and the commitment of many other Oregon cities to get serious about reducing atmospheric toxins. We celebrate new records for this year’s Bike Commute Challenge and EcoChallenge, as well as attendance at Crater Lake National Park.
Most of all, we celebrate environmental issues moving to the mainstream, to the point where even our own President and the Pope have now become strong voices for addressing climate change as an obligation to future generations.
So, thank you! This was possible because of your generous contributions. By supporting EarthShare Oregon, you have helped us connect more people in more workplaces to the beneficial work of the environmental movement.
These successes have put us in a position of incredible opportunity for the next decade. Our groups need your support to expand the work that’s been so effective already, and we need your support to extend our reach so others can join the efforts and multiply the impact.
As always, EarthShare Oregon will steward your gifts wisely, so we’ll have even more successes to count next year!
With gratitude and warm wishes for the year ahead,
Jan Wilson, Executive Director
