Major headway on environmental headlines!

I read a lot of news every morning, and just sorting through the issues that concern me can be overwhelming.  Public lands protections, clean water, and healthier transportation are just a few that showed up for me in the past few days.

Luckily I have a job that allows me to see the positive momentum created by environmental nonprofits in Oregon. EarthShare Oregon's member groups are actively pursuing good actions, every day, that make me feel less anxious about environmental issues. For example:

Oregon Natural Desert Association has already signed up more than 1,200 people who are ready to help with the restoration of Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, when the time is right. Other organizations that actively help public land protection, such as Audubon Society of Portland and Oregon Wild, have been mobilizing their supporters to participate as well. Their wonderful volunteer coordinators are just chomping at the bit to turn those who love public lands into active volunteers.

Clean water could not be more central to our daily lives -- but we see a lot of stories that make us wonder how secure it is.  Oregonians are privileged to have groups as effective as WaterWatch of Oregon (which fought off an effort by municipal water developers to take almost half the summertime flow of the lower Clackamas River) and Sierra Club's Oregon Chapter (which is actively protecting clean water in Cascade Locks from private corporations who want to turn it into an expensive commodity.)

If knowing these good works exist make you feel good too, supporting them all with one gift to EarthShare Oregon is a great way to honor them and to make continuing their work possible.

Thank you for being a force for good in Oregon...
