Towards the end of October this year, a number of earthquakes with a magnitude of 6.6 hit the southern Philippines, recording at least seven killed, and thousands wounded, injured and have lost their properties. Over 5,000 homes and ten (10) schools have been devastated by the recent earthquakes. This is why Children's Joy Foundation, located in the same island, have gathered resources coming from its many advocates and supporters to extend its help to the traumatized victim
Thousands of families are affected by the number of magnitude-6 earthquakes that hit North Cotabato, Mindanao, located in the Southern Philippines. Barangay Daig, Magbook, and Paraiso suffered severed damages among the residences. Nearby towns also have casualties. Children and youth are still in shock from this horrifying experience that left them homeless and hopeless. Some areas of North Cotabato doesn't have water supply due to the reservoirs being severely damaged from the quake.
Children's Joy Foundation, in one of its community-based support program to help disaster-stricken communities, is among the first to act by gathering relief goods and foods for the affected families in Tulunan, North Cotabato. Last Nov 1, the first leg of relief operations were conducted in the epicenter of the earthquake. Thousands of families received relief goods during that day. A series of activities is also underway for the nearby towns.
With the destruction brought upon by the earthquake, hundreds of families are in need of assistance. While families are still homeless in the evacuation centers, CJFI will start off by providing relief goods and food to the affected 1,200 families. It is also important to give attention to the children and youth of these families who may have a traumatic experience.
