This project will equip health facilities in 10 states of South Sudan with Maternal health services in order to reduce maternal deaths in one of the world's highest maternal deaths countries .The donation will be used in the uptake of antenatal care, family planning, HIV testing, and facility based deliveries for up to 500 women.
Sexual and Reproductive health rights including Maternal health is a key concern in South Sudan, which has one of the world's highest maternal deaths, and the disruption of health services due to the armed conflict has put the lives of crisis-affected population, especially women and girls, at greater risk.Women and girls often are forced to travel long distances to access available services, the risks are high and it include sexual violence and even delivering babies en route.
This Project will provide mobile SRH services to the most vulnerable women by providing training and training materials to community health workers (CHWs) and social workers to be able to identify women and girls in need of SRH services and to conduct awareness on importance of antenatal care family planning and safe deliveries.The CHWs will conduct referrals of patients including pregnant mothers to the nearest health facilities for further care.
This project intends to cut maternal deaths by 80% mainly through prevention and response of cases.It is expected that through the work of CHWs and social workers more women will be educated on the importance of SRH and thus the outcome will be more healthy women and girls with controlled births,the community will increase support to women through blood donation and acceptance of family planning choices.
