There are more than 1,000 disadvantaged pensioners, who are lonely, wheel-chair bound, blind, suffering in Greater London area. Although Local Government Borough Councils were providing some financial help, recent spending cuts in Local Governments have drained down all financial resources, and no further funding is coming in. These pensioners are suffering with diabetes, high blood pressure, and at risk of getting dementia.
Age-Link aims to bring happiness by mitigating loneliness of elderly, disabled and partially blind. Age-Link provides health clinic for the elderly by qualified doctors, monthly tea parties, sea-side coach trips, boat trip on river Thames, and Christmas parties. Our volunteers collect guests from their homes, drive them to the venue over scenic routes and again drive them back home after the event. Age-Link does not charge any money to these elderly people and all services are provided for free.
Improved physical and mental health for the elderly people, and some on-going comfort and companionship.
