Help 2800 Chilean children to learn how to read

This month we published in "Metrogas" magazine a complete guide with tips for parents to support their children in reading.
It is proven that reading stories to children, showing them books and taking them to libraries will cause these children to understand better what they read, to communicate better and to develop their creativity.
The encouragement of reading in children also causes they have more chances to reach higher education, opening the boundaries of their future.
The magazine arrived this month to 400,000 households in Chile. We will continue working for more mothers and fathers get this information and so we improve the reading of Chilean children.

¡Hola! Queremos contarte novedades sobre nuestro proyecto de lectoescritura, al que entregaste tu apoyo a través de la plataforma internacional Global Giving.  

Gracias a tu aporte en dinero, conseguimos un total de US$8.745, lo que se traducirá en que 3.000 madres y padres recibirán información didáctica y de calidad para ayudar a sus hijos a leer mejor. Estamos convencidos de que así podrán progresar en la compresión de distintas materias y por supuesto: entenderán mejor el mundo que los rodea.

Hoy estamos en pleno proceso de diseño de estos materiales informativos -que se repartirán en escuelas de sectores vulnerables, consultorios y en la calle- y contendrán consejos prácticos para facilitar la lectoescritura de los niños.

Continuaremos informándote sobre los avances de este proyecto. Una vez más, agradecemos tu colaboración.

Hello! We wanted to keep you informed on the progress of the literacy project which you helped support through the Global Giving platform.

Thanks to your contribution, we managed to raise a total of US$ 8,745, which will ensure that 3,000 mothers and fathers will receive quality instruction and materials to help their children to improve their reading skills. We are sure that this will help them to improve their understanding of the different school subjects and, of course, to better understand the world that surrounds them.

We are currently in the process of designing these materials - which will be given out at schools in at-risk areas, doctors' offices and on the street - and they will contain practical advice to help children improve their literacy skills.

We will be sure to keep you up to date with the progress of this project. Once again we would like to thank you for your contribution.
