By Geoffrey Kilonzo - CEO and Founder, Imara Academy
It is with a delightful heart that I share the amazing results from the 5th graders you support. These bright and hard-working children came in 2nd out of 38 schools on standardized testing. Such rewarding efforts on the part of the children, teachers and our incredible supporters are the winds in my sails, a testimony to what great future awaits these children.
At first glance many people will notice the challenges the children and Imara school faces but when you get to encounter the pure joy and thirst for life and learning from these kids, you come out refreshed and hopeful. Yes there are roadblocks and many more things to be done including plaster and paint, but my job and with your support, is to make a way so these children will have a chance to fully explore their potentials.
Some other amazing news is that starting on the week of June 9th I will be in Kenya, at Imara School for my annual visit and inspection tour. I will have the opportunity to interact with the children, teachers and parents and learn firsthand some of the things they are doing and accomplishing. This is an incredible experience I will shared with you on my return. Such visits, the sights and sounds of the children, their playful nature and welcoming spirit give me hope, inspire me to do more and challenge me to never give up.
