Community Development Watch (CODEWA) plans to provide health insurance cards to help orphans and vulnerable children in Tabora -Tanzania to get free hospitalization and treatment for one year. This project will cover all hospitalization and treatments for free in all public and private hospitals in Tanzania. It will enable orphans to stay healthy, feel safer and increase their school attendance to get better results.
With 1.4 million people living with HIV, Tanzania has one of the severe epidemics in the world. HIV/AIDS has increased poverty at household, community and national levels, making it difficult for the extended families to meet basic needs. Orphans face a greater risk of many physical, mental, social and mental health problems. Orphans are often denied their freedom to access health care because of exorbitant consultation fees and medication costs.
Health Insurance Cards to orphans and vulnerable children will help and empower 200 orphans and vulnerable children to have access to better and free healthcare. With these cards those children will be able to get free all hospitalization and treatments for one year in all public and private hospitals in all parts of Tanzania. Also the project will help to increase their school attendance and, subsequently, improve their academic performance while helping them to reach their life aspirations.
200 Orphans and vulnerable children will be able to get free hospitalization and treatment. School attendance will be increased; academic performance also will be improved. Those orphans will reduce physical, mental, social and mental health problems among those children. Also this project will inspire other community members to support other orphans and vulnerable children with health and other services in their community hence better, healthier and empowered generation.
