This project supports 200 vulnerable families mostly displaced women returning to conflict-affected Masisi, North Kivu, DR Congo. We provide access to safe, dignified housing by rebuilding homes destroyed by war. Through local partnerships and community involvement, we empower women to reclaim their lives with shelter, protection, and hope.
Years of armed conflict in Masisi, North Kivu, have devastated housing and infrastructure. Hundreds of families mainly women-headed households return to find their homes destroyed or uninhabitable. Without shelter, they face insecurity, trauma, and poverty. Lack of safe housing hinders their reintegration and exposes them to violence, disease, and exploitation. These families urgently need help rebuilding their lives.
We will help 200 conflict-affected families access safe housing by rebuilding or repairing destroyed homes in Masisi. Working with local builders, we will provide materials, training, and community support. Women will be engaged in the construction process to foster ownership and empowerment. This approach ensures durable shelter, emotional healing, and long-term community reintegration for vulnerable returnees.
By restoring homes, we offer lasting safety, dignity, and stability to 200 families in Masisi. This project empowers women, strengthens community ties, and supports sustainable reintegration. Stable housing allows families to focus on education, livelihoods, and healing. Long-term, the project helps break the cycle of displacement, contributes to peacebuilding, and rebuilds hope for future generations in post-conflict North Kivu.
