Summary

Biggi Junior schools provide subsidised quality education integrated with life skills to children aged 3 -15 in parts of Northern and Central Uganda. Our schools adopt a nurturing & holistic approach to education, helping children learn joyfully. 55% of the children get full scholarships while the rest pay a subsidized fee. Your donation goes towards critical infrastructure like learning materials (including STEM), 4 classrooms, school latrine and training materials.

Challenge

Despite the economic progress seen in Uganda in the last couple of decades and government's support for education, poverty has continued to pervade several families. Children in Apolla for instance, can hardly access a proper education. Schools in the region lack basic facilities, teachers being unmotivated and frequently absent. Even after 13 years of schooling, graduates still lack the basic skills, making it impossible to seek gainful employment or pursue higher education.

Solution

Education is the only ladder for these rural children to climb out of poverty. Apolla Biggi Junior School will create a bright future for 200 rural children in Nebbi District by providing quality infrastructure, joyful learning aids, computers, English language program & holistic development through sports, yoga & nutritious meals. The school actively promotes girl education, health & hygiene. It also provides support for one government school, impacting 500+ children.

Long-Term Impact

Children passing out of the school will receive good quality education integrated with lifeskills such as computer literacy and holistic development, which would enable them to realize their full potential in any field they choose. This education is the key to lifting them and their families out of the vicious cycle of poverty. Teacher augmentation, English & remedial teaching in the neighboring Govt. school will lead to improved quality of education producing more confident & educated children.
