Giving 20 women and men the machineries and the training for processing and marketing Parboiled Rice to create secure jobs in the area of Igbeagu-Izzi, Nigeria, to reduce migration.
In Igbeagu-Izzi more tham 90% of the population live from agriculture. The farmers have generally only small lands (average of 2 hectares) which they can cultivate by hand. They face many barries to progress and have few opportunities for income. Specially young people loose hope for the future and try to migrate. Their concern is how to earn an income to improve the quality of life. Therefore the Project IZZI has started a program to process Rice for creating job security.
1. Cooking of the raw rice in big pots, 2. Drying on mats in sun, 3. Milling of the dried rice in the huller, 4. Cleaning of the milled rice in the distoner, 5. Filling the rice in ricebags (for 10, 20, 50 kilogrammes), 6. Marketing of rice in towns.
The project will not only serve the 20 workers with a regular income, but all their extended families (around 1000 persons) will participate. The project is the beginning of coming welfare to village people. Rice has a big market in the towns.
