The project aims to support single young mothers who are victim of early pregnancy and rape, expelled from schools, stigmatized by their own families and society, left helpless and hopeless. Mothers have been abandoned by Child fathers. To survive they are forced to work as low wage casual labors some as sexual workers. The project will equip 150 young mothers with employable business skills and support them with startup package in terms of capital and tools for self-employment.
135 teenager girls were expelled from primary schools because of pregnancy in Chamwino district for the past three years. They are forced to be mothers at tender age with no support from family. Children are not getting adequate nutrition and medical care. To survive Mother are forced to do low waged works and sexual works. Campaigns against early pregnancies will reduce the problem, provision of business skills and health insurance for mother and child will improve their welfare.
