Challenge

Heat wave is gripping the country today and suffering are poor villages. Of great consideration is the disadvantaged this cause for women and girls. They are tasked to fetch water and water sources are located far from the villages. They also participate more on doing laborious farm activities and with house work and children rearing this is indeed burdensome. There is a great possibility of school children stopping school because of this situation.

Solution

We will provide food supply in order to solve the problem in the short-term. Food will consist rice, protein and variety of vegetables. We will also provide vegetable seeds, root crop seeds, small garden tools and organic fertilizer so that women can start food supply production on a sustainable basis. Vegetable gardening can be done around the house and women and girls love to do this.

Long-Term Impact

The heat wave caused by the El Nino phenomenon is a cyclical event. The impact to health and nutrition is long-term as food supply dwindles and have a long time recovering. When we solve the problem focusing on the welfare of women this means development and resilience of local communities.
