However, available national resources, especially finance, are insufficient to implement this mammoth task. Hence, receiving adequate and comprehensive health care services still remains a dream yet to come into reality for people in Itamerin community in Akinyele Local Government of Oyo State. Mother and child healthcare in particular.
Recent medical outreach data in the area shows a high presence of children malnutrition and malaria, and hypertension among the aged and middle aged women. Lack of quality healthcare access. High presence of unskilled care attendants. Poor socio econnomic status of the proposed beneficiaries as they are farmers and uneducated. Women and children often suffer serious complications due to deficient knowledge and absence of affordable modern healthcare facility.
Healthcare access for itamerin project seeks to construct a model health centre, fully equipped with modern medical facilities. To be staffed majorly by A medical Doctor, nurses and midwives, and others. Maternal and child health focused care will include family planning services, health sensitization and resource mobilization to provide complimentary feed that will meet at least 50% of child's daily nutrient requirement. It will also enhance early diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
over 5000 people will have access to modern grass root health care,Drastic reduction in unskilled caregiver related maternal and child complications complications. Improved life quality will enhance increased productivity. This increases the nation's food security as majority of the beneficiaries are poor farmers. The project will improve the location's children cognitive functions and physical development to facilitate effective learning and does their urban counterparts.
