Strong Heart: Your Donation Supports Jhampool's Story. Get to Know Him!

By Manuela Yusti Saldarriaga | Project management

At San Vicente Fundación Children's Hospital, we offer a variety of services and our inpatient rooms care for over 20,000 children each year. Today, we want to highlight our general pediatrics ward, a place that, with 12 beds, becomes a beacon of hope for children aged 0 to 16. Here, we care for young patients with various diagnoses who come from regions such as Chocó, Cauca, Apartadó, and Quindío. This ward, with an occupancy rate of over 90% throughout the year, is managed by a dedicated team of professionals who have found their life's purpose in this service.

One of our patients is Jhampool, a 5 year old boy who, along with his mother Sirley, has faced a journey full of challenges, hope, and strength. Jhampool has undergone two open heart surgeries and has traveled from Cartago, Valle del Cauca, to receive specialized care at our hospital in Medellín. Now, while waiting for his third surgery, he dreams of driving a truck, and his lively smile brightens the ward as he plays with his toy cars. His resilience and ability to find joy in small moments inspire everyone around him.

For his mother, Sirley, the experience is deeply emotional. She has been a pillar of strength at every step of Jhampool's treatment. "Being in the hospital day and night is an internal battle that I have to overcome for my son's health," says Sirley, showing unconditional love and unbreakable strength that remind us of the true meaning of motherhood.

With your donation, you support life stories like Jhampool's. Thanks to you, we can provide medical care to our most vulnerable patients, acquire cutting-edge medical equipment for open-heart surgeries, and offer support to mothers in areas such as food, transportation, and shelter during these critical times.

As we continue working to care for the lives of our children, we hope Jhampool's story inspires you to join our mission with even more determination. Share this story with a friend and invite them to donate the cost of their coffee today.

Together, we can make a difference.
