Challenge

In Chiapas, the access to health services is limited or nonexistent because of: lack of health clinics, medication and skilled personnel; lack of access to existing health services due to large distances and isolation of this communities; lack of access to free health care as a right,so the families have to invest in drugs and materials which makes the situation unsustainable. These terrible situations have created, that 8% of children in the area, still die from curable diseases.

Solution

The challenge is to generate alternative health services directed to prevention, improve feeding and care of diseases with traditional medicine and if this is not sufficient, channeling patients to secondary hospitals. This will be from the formation of health promoters inside the 45 indigenous communities, empowering women on prevention, recovering traditional medicine.

Long-Term Impact

Cover the access to health services of 15,000 indigenous people Chol, Tseltal and Zoques of all ages, in Chiapas, Mexico. Reduce the mortality rate caused by treatable and / or preventable diseases. Improve the alimentation of communities, from products they produce in their community. Improving the quality of life of the 45 communities.
