This project will help Calcutta Rescue deliver life saving health care to those with no where else to turn. We have two mobile clinics that operate in 27 slum areas across the city, helping over 8,000 people. We work exclusively with the most disadvantaged and vulnerable people, from areas where the government and other organisations do not operate.
There are thousands of people living in slums across Kolkata. Many of these people struggle to cover their living costs and cant afford to visit a doctor when they are sick. The government has worked diligently to improved access to healthcare in recent years, but many of the poorest people still live in areas with limited access to these services. Calcutta Rescues street medicine project gives life saving healthcare, medications and education to those that are unable to access other services
Calcutta Rescue has two mobile clinics that visit slum communities throughout the city. Each mobile clinic has a doctor, pharmacists and health workers. We deliver life saving healthcare, health education and immunisation. We work exclusively with the cities most vulnerable and disadvantaged people, where there are no other NGOs or government services operating.
Calcutta Rescues mission is to break the grips of poverty. We do this by delivering effective, reliable healthcare that assists 8,000 people to live healthy lifestyles. This helps adults to work and children to attend school. In the long term, as the government system expands and its services improve, we will be able to slowly withdraw from the current communities we work in moving into other areas where our services are needed.
