Impact on the Table

When you made an online donation to the “Growing Healthy Families” Project on, you were investing a thriving partnership between Hidden Villa and the Community Services Agency’s Food and Nutrition Center (FNC) that provides over 4,800 of our low-income neighbors with fresh fruit and vegetables at their local food bank. I’m writing to sincerely thank you for your generous support, and to take a moment to update you on the partnership’s progress and impact this year to date.

Hidden Villa's Interns recently went to the FNC to learn about and volunteer at the food bank. As an Agriculture Intern at Hidden Villa, I watch our produce get picked up every Wednesday and Friday for distribution at the FNC, but actually delivering our fresh, organic fruits and vegetables and volunteering for a day helped me see the impact of our partnership firsthand.

On our visit, Hidden Villa Interns laid out twelve varieties of vegetables and herbs for clients. FNC clients were able to take one each of a portion of vegetable, oranges, bread, rice, beans, and canned goods. I was truly impressed at the scope and reach of the FNC’s services, and also by the staff’s desire to provide healthy, fresh food for their clients whenever possible. While much of grocery store donations tend to be sweets, such as cinnamon rolls and cake, the food bank is committed to securing more nutritious donations, like the donations of fresh, delicious fruits and vegetables, to sustain the health of their clients.

As we enter a new season with the FNC, we ask you how we can make organic fruits and vegetables even more accessible to those who may not be able to afford them. This summer we hope to have a Harvest Festival for the “Growing Healthy Families” program, in which we will invite FNC clients to Hidden Villa to experience the farm and see where their produce comes from. We would also like to invite you, the donors, to the event to celebrate the partnership that improves access to quality and wholesome food.

Once again, thank you so much for your generous donations, and for helping us provide our neighbors with this valuable service.

P.S. GlobalGiving is giving away $75,000 on June 13th!

Starting at 12:01 am EDT, GlobalGiving will match all donations made through up to $1,000 per donor. Matching will be based on an organization’s Partner Rewards Level—which means that, as a Project Leader, 40% of all donations made to Hidden Villa will be matched on this special day!

Matching will last until funds run out or until 11:59 pm EDT. If you would like to leverage your donation to Hidden Villa on this special day we encourage you donations in early!
