Youth across the world are stepping up to build the movement which will lead us all through the next phase of life on earth. Climate change & the environment; governance; and human rights are all being influenced by the generations who will soon be voting and replacing the status quo. Earth Guardians has been supporting these youth for 25 years and the surge of activism has become overwhelming. We are determined to grow with the movement to assure these leaders have the support they need.
The climate is changing at an alarming rate, biodiversity is disappearing, the oceans are clogging with plastic, democracy and basic freedoms are being tested, the safety and basic rights of women and children are being trampled. The status of the ruling class has not been disrupted in millennia, which is how this unchecked destruction has been able to continue.
As the climate spins out of control, youth are not satisfied to wait until they "inherit" their place in it. Children come with their own inherent sense of justice. If no one is listening to this wisdom, it becomes lost in the process of growing to adulthood, taking on practical matters, and striving to realize the expectations of others. Earth Guardians is paving the way for youth and their wisdom to move us forward and bring about critical changes, faster than if we stick to the status quo.
The potential long-term effects of the work and collaboration that Earth Guardians is doing is a complete reformation of the face of global power. As youth learn, at an early age, that their instincts and wisdom do have an effect on the world, they begin to act as leaders and to find like-minded community. They grow into adults who are sensitive to the needs of others and the planet. They become stewards of justice and of sustainable living.
