This Spring youth interns planted fresh vegetables to be distributed at the community food center. We had a great teacher this year. Our organic farmer gave us all planting lesson teaching the youth to use natural fertizers such as compost, water reclaimed from the aquaponics system and a natural based seaweed fertilizer. We have been growing seeds in the greenhouse since March and had plenty of seedlings to plant. We the help of ten of our interns we planted out basil, collards, lettuce, sweet and hot peppers and tomatoes. We are ready to begin distributing our fresh green at the community food center and look forward to working at the farm with our Summer interns who are starting July 10. We look forward to having your continued support at our youth led community food center. Your donations are keeping families in our community eating fresh healthy local produce grown at the Bed-Stuy Farm.
