The countries involved in AVN's action are among the poorest in the world and face growing demography, making this region one of the "youngest" in the world, with 64.5% being under 25 years old. The vocational training projects put in place do not have the expected impact due to their approach, which is too far removed from the needs of the majority of the rural population, for the most part illiterate (+ 43% of young people aged 15-24) and evolving in informal economies.
The training courses in eco-construction in the Nubian Vault are adapted to profiles with little or no schooling. They are aimed primarily at young rural people looking for income-generating activities between two agricultural seasons. The income they were able to earn from this new activity changed their lives: they were able to enlarge their field, invest in a scooter, send their children to school, pay for medicine...
The project will help thousands of rural youth to benefit from green and sustainable off-season employment, benefiting local economies. Training actions in the sector will make it possible to develop the eco-construction sector on a large scale, and allowing broad impacts such as decent housing for the greatest number, a solution against rural unemployment and therefore poverty, adaptation of populations to climate change and the preservation of forest areas.
