Summary

Great Girls help girls in Gr 11 or 12 to become successful women. The program assists them while they are at school. Once they graduate from our program we keep in touch for a further 2 and a half years. We do quarterly check ins to see where they are in their lives. Are they studying, working, doing a learnership or unemployed and how we can assist. The Alumni projects have 4 programs during the year which enhances there career. eg. Coding, alternative careers, etc. Funds are needed for this.

Challenge

The girls in our program come from impoverished communities, where gangster-ism and drugs , teenage pregnancy and shootings are rife. Most girls in our program are the first to complete school and apply to a university. They thus don't know how to go about applying. Great Girls assist them in every facet of life to become successful women who will contribute and uplift society. From applying to further study, obtaining a bursary to attending an job interview with a well scripted curriculum vitae

Solution

We at Great Girls keep contact with our girls for 2 and a half years after our introduction program. We try to assist the girls to put a foot in the right direction. We would like to see them with a stable job or studying towards an impacting career. Girls might be excited when doing our initial program, but when the reality of life after school hits, they need someone to show them the ropes and guide them to becoming successful women. When they experience a setback we can motivate them.

Long-Term Impact

Women tend to look after there families and be more responsible then men as they have greater empathy. Women will look after their families if they succeed in life.
