This project will raise awareness about Ebola prevention and safely distribute anti-Ebola kits to 200 elderly people in Goma. It will include information sessions on hygiene and protective behaviors, and ensure kits reach beneficiaries with guidance on proper use. This will help reduce risk and improve community health and preparedness.
Ebola outbreaks remain a serious public health threat in the DRC. In Goma, many elderly people face limited access to accurate prevention information, hygiene supplies, and protective equipment. This increases their vulnerability and the risk of disease spread within households and community settings, especially during outbreaks or when health guidance is not consistently available.
This project will conduct targeted awareness sessions on Ebola prevention for community members, with a focus on the needs of elderly people. It will then distribute anti-Ebola kits (hygiene and protective items) and provide simple guidance on correct use. By improving knowledge and access to essential supplies, we help reduce exposure and strengthen safe behaviors.
By building prevention knowledge and equipping elderly residents with anti-Ebola kits, the project strengthens community readiness beyond a single outbreak. Participants become more capable of protecting themselves and advising family members, improving hygiene practices and early recognition of risks. This creates more resilient households and lasting trust in health measures, supporting ongoing public health efforts in Goma.
