When thinking about baseball, people often think immediately of a glove and ball. Gloves are core to the sport. Whether you're having a catch with a family member or friend, or playing a game, gloves are essential, so it comes as no surprise that it is our highest demand item. Our Gloves for All program enables Pitch In For Baseball to fulfill requests for equipment in their entirety and is key to our achieving our mission to make baseball/softball accessible to every child.
The glove is the quintessential piece of baseball equipment. Even without a team, kids can still have a catch with a parent or friend or have a pick up game. Gloves are our highest demand item. Ninety percent of the equipment PIFB has available to donate comes from caring community kids who just love baseball. However, we receive many smaller gloves and the bulk of the requests are for bigger kids, requiring us to purchase equipment to fulfill requests and needs.
Donors will enable Pitch In For Baseball to meet the glove needs of youth baseball organizations to help grow the sport around the world.
At its simplest, baseball is a game that is played by boys and girls in backyards, country fields, sandlots, and streets. Baseball is also an important vehicle for youth development - instilling values such as teamwork, respect, how to win and lose, and helps to build self-confidence. Yet unfortunately, baseball is not accessible to everyone. Pitch In For Baseball directly reduces one barrier to play by providing the necessary equipment to leagues, schools, and organizations around the world.
