Tanzania is kicking hundreds of pregnant girls and adolescent mothers out of schools, families are thrusting them from their homes - they are forced to commit suicide, just for one reason; they have "prematurely" brought another life in the world. Tanzania Journalists Alliance plans to empower 400 of these poor girls and creating their protection structures, equip them with skills relevant for women to voice out, advance revolving seed money and build a small business center for them
Tanzania have more than 11790 known adolescent mothers out of school, these young girls are denied almost all their basic rights and sometimes forced to commit suicide, just for one reason; they have "prematurely" brought another life in the world. For years now, pregnant girl and adolescent mothers are seen as a curse in Tanzania, they are being denied all their rights, including the iota one; living, education, shelter, marriage and above all equal employment opportunities.
To help pregnant girls and adolescent mothers address their fundamental rights over the productive resources and create equal business opportunities, Tanzania Journalists Alliance will be aimed at empowering them and creating their protection structures with information, equip them with skills to start their businesses. Buying 4 small machines for grinding spices and build a business center to sell their products and services.
This project will educate 400 young mothers in Tanzania -who will be our ambassadors in pulling in more "affected" ones, through the various advocacy meetings, teach them how to become entrepreneurs, giving them some revolving seed money, buy them 4 machines for grinding spices, packaging and above all building a business center which will be the main road to successful life and ending any denial and discouragements. This project will ensure their living and of their children
