This project aims at helping 300 children with various disabilities in terms of education and health support, in order for them to get rehabilitated and being placed into schools. Those who are already in schools will be provided with education support such as school/boarding fees, transport cost and other school requirements. For those not in school but have reached the age to be in school will be found school places and these are special schools.
We are facing a lot of challenges especially in addressing the issues of disabled children such as:
- Lack of finances to support their children to start and complete their education.
- High illiteracy levels to most of the families.
- Traditional beliefs in some of the tribes
The direct affected are the disabled children and the indirect affected are the families
The problem not accessing quality health services and education
The disabled children, families and their communities
This project aims at promoting, protecting and fulfilling the rights of the disabled children, the right based approach is going to be used were by the key interest should be on addressing the challenges facing the disabled children which is education and health. By placing those who stopped school in school, finding school places for those who have reached the school age, skills training for youths and providing them with educational support. Provision of rehabilitation aids, medical costs.
When disabled children are educated, their livelihood will change, were by they will start taking care of themselves and start earning their own income. Families will have less burdens of taking care of them because of the change in physical health and education. The problem that this project will solve is that the children after receiving quality health services and education they are going to improve in terms of health and education will reduce the poverty levels and 50% will be affected.
