Thank you for your ongoing support. Access to pesticides means higher crop yields and increased food security for the women farmers of Burkina Faso. We are so grateful that FarmSahel was able to provide not only pesticides and sprayers, but also recently hosted a workshop teaching the best methods for using these important tools.

On Tuesday August 10, 2021, FarmSahel held a training with the women farmers in Kaïbo. This training took place in the middle of the planting season to show our farmers how to use the sprayers and how to apply the pesticides from our previous donation. The goal is to equip these women with good farming techniques to increase their productivity.

The happy beneficiaries welcomed our team who came at the right time according to the representative of the women of Kaïbo. They also used the opportunity to thank the Executive Director of FarmSahel, who were present at the training, for the ongoing support they get from FarmSahel. It was the right occasion for them to express some needs as well, in particular the absence of income-generating activities in the dry season and their wish to obtain micro-loans to support their continuous efforts to provide for their families.

As a reminder, the productions of the women at the end of this planting season will be bought by the local government to supply school lunch. As a result, this should enable 438 women to obtain income to support their families.

Your continued support is what helps us provide these vital services to these women.

Our recurring donors are making a continuous impact and we are truly grateful for the ongoing
support. If you are not yet a recurring donor, we warmly invite you to consider setting up a
recurring donation. $24 a month goes a long way.

Because of your support, FarmSahel has officially handed over agricultural resources worth five million XOF (10,000 USD) to women in Bindé, a rural village in Burkina Faso.

The official ceremony took place on Friday,  July 9th 2021 in Kaïbo-Centre, a village in the municipality of Bindé.

One ton of Organic Cowpea, 438 bottles of sprayers, 438 organic pesticide, with a total value of 5 million XOF were donated to 438 women. This donation aims to strengthen the resilience of households and communities in terms of food and nutrition security, which once again enforces FarmSahel’s mission statement and core values.

Your donation not only allows the women of the municipality to be financially independent but also allows students of the municipality to consume healthy food. This is through the local government, which has agreed to buy the foods produced and supply it to students for school lunch.

Through this donation, both women and their children will reap the benefits of agricultural resources and feel the safety of nutrition security.

For the womens’ representative, this donation is especially timely because it will allow women to take care of their children while paying for their education and seeking better, stable healthcare. She added: "Now that we are in charge of providing food for school lunch, we know what is being fed to our kids in school and that is organic food".

Our recurring donors are making a continuous impact and we are truly grateful for the ongoing
support. If you are not yet a recurring donor, we warmly invite you to consider setting up a

Dear Supporters,

Your gift to our Project helps rural women in Burkina Faso. From providing farming and livestock training to collaborating with the local government to provide organic fertilizer beginning this planting season of June 2021, your generosity has made countless stories of change and hope possible—stories like Koumbou’s.

Koumbou, a mother of 5 from the village of BINDE, received Livestock management training, thanks to your donation. She is so thankful for your generous support that has helped increase her livestock income. From making 6,500 FCFA ($13.00) of livestock income a month before our training, Koumbou is now making 26,000 FCFA ($52.00) a month.

Your support is truly changing not only the individual women' lives but also their entire families because they can provide food, education and healthcare to their children.

We will be back to update you on the Fertilizer distribution we are planning for this planting season.

Our recurring donors are making a continuous impact and we are truly grateful for the ongoing support. If you are not yet a recurring donor, we warmly invite you to consider setting up a recurring donation. $24 a month goes a long way.

Women Farmers Training 12/15/2020 & 12/16/2020
Women Farmers Training 12/15/2020 & 12/16/2020

Thank you to everyone who donated on “Giving Tuesday”. Together, you helped us raise over $4700 to support our mission of empowering women farmers in rural Burkina Faso! Those funds will provide fertilizer and training to these women. Now here’s a bit about what we’ve been up to recently at FarmSahel.

Although we have not reached our goal yet, we have not slowed down on our important work. We were able once again to provide 2 days of training to 36 women from 15 villages of the municipality of Binde (12/15/2020 and 12/16/2020). At FarmSahel we work to keep our women farmers engaged and well educated even in non-planting season.

This training on livestock management was carried out in two phases. A theoretical phase and a phase on the field. The participants came out of the training well equipped and informed on how to manage livestock to successfully create an extra source of income.

Planting season is coming soon and we are working on providing more training on how to use the fertilizer we will be providing them with.

We are also working on more exciting projects that we will be sharing with you soon.

FYI: To help grow our monthly support base, GlobalGiving is offering a 100% match on all monthly donations. This is a great way to make your donation go further!

As always, we would like to thank all of you for supporting the vital work of FarmSahel and we are grateful to GlobalGiving for this wonderful platform with which we were able to reach you. If you are interested in providing us feedback concerning our project, finding out more about our activities or area of operation, or would like to volunteer with us, please email us at info@farmsahel.org. We also strongly encourage you to provide feedback at the end of this report.

Thank you!
