RACOBAO together with the district officials visited Kabatema Primary School its area of operation to discover the decline of children’s performance , but it was resolved that absenteeism of girls every month due to luck of sanitary pads led to bad performance and children dropping out of school.
RACOBAO with support from GlobalGiving managed to support these girls with sanity pads to promote their hygiene and a senior lady was also put on a training to learn how to make washable sanitary pads and later the training to be transferred to these young girls in order to avoid absenteeism and also improve their performance in class than boys.
It was comprehended that the percentage of boys in the school was higher than that of girls due to school dropouts to avoid being stigmatized and forced marriage by their guardians claiming that they were old to begin a family.
The few girls that were met and provided with these sanitary pads appreciated the work done by GlobalGiving fundraisers together with RACOBAO and also promised to invite others back to school after obtaining the training by their senior lady.
