This project is providing young and disadvantaged boys the opportunity to develop their skills as soccer players and to become leaders in their community. These children have troubled family lives and very little income - and by providing to the "Education through Soccer" program, a donor is improving their lives and increasing their potential to succeed.
As a result of the poverty and poor living conditions in Cape Coast, Ghana, much of the youth are unable to receive a proper education. They need a structured opportunity to interact with other children and learn the principles of leadership, integrity, and teamwork. Within a program that couples an education program with team sport, the children can acquire academic knowledge and important skills that can empower them to become leaders to their peers and community.
Education Through Soccer has a daily schedule of classroom education in the morning and soccer training in the afternoon. By addressing their talent for soccer and creating a structured educational program, we can provide them with the opportunity to grow and realize a potential that should be believed in. In total, the program should have about 50 participants. By focusing on a core group, we can prove success and enable the program to grow. It must be sustainable to succeed.
If the program can successfully provide for these children, the impact will be felt throughout their neighborhoods. The structure of the program keeps the boys focused on improving their abilities and developing into the men that can better their family and community. Empowering the youth is one essential way to bring about future positive change in any environment. Education Through Soccer can be successful project of instilling this change.
