In this area, 64% of women currently aged 20-24 were married before the age of 18; in rural areas the rate is more than 81% higher. Typically in rural areas, a girl's family believes that they are ensuring her social status, security, shelter, stability and sustenance by marrying her off. Within the existing social value system a girl child is less valued by families and the society and is considered as a burden to the families. This is the most important reason for girls to early marriage

Girls club works as an entertainment point and sharing center for girls. There they share their personal problems, family issue; they play football, cricket, volleyball; receive life skills and martial arts training. Non-traditional games (e.g. football and martial arts) is one of a strong tools to build up their confidence and break stereotypes, increase mobility of girls that prepare them to face violence, . They also expand their knowledge and skills to other girls.

Long-Term Impact

"I was aware about child marriage and its consequences but was unable to protest my parents. My friends from girl club has taken initiatives to save me." Munni, a 13 years old girl saved from child marriage by her peers. This project will empower 500 girls by involving them with club and providing life skills support. They will act as peer group in their own community to save others from child marriage. They will share knowledge with others to improve others skills and will educate parents.
